This is one of the more popular styles of training on Team Reach. Two coaches at Reach are Certified Spartan SGX Coaches and have raced and competed at a high level. Our programming for OCR is very specific to our facility; however, we have created programs that can be completed at most other gyms. This isn’t your “go run and do burpees” programming. No matter your goals in OCR, we have a program for you.
OCR Sprint Competitive Training
Obstacle Course Racing has become an international phenomenon and Spartan Race is at the top of the sport. Designed by our TeamReach Spartan SGX coach, this program is for those who not only want to participate in a race but compete to win. This program is designed for the Sprint Series (around 5-mile distance) but can be tailored for those wanting to compete in the longer distance races (Super, Beast, Ultra Beast).
Strength training is often overlooked by most individuals training for obstacle course racing. But don't worry; we've built a program to help you build the strength and fortitude to conquer the most grueling obstacles the races have to offer.
Spartan OCR Sprint Open
This program is designed for the Sprint Series (around 3-5 miles distance) but can be tailored for those wanting to compete in the longer distance races (Super, Beast, Ultra Beast). Strength training is often overlooked by most individuals training for obstacle course racing. But don't worry; we've built a program to help you build the strength and fortitude to conquer the most grueling obstacles the races have to offer.
Unlike our Competitive/Elite program, this program places more emphasis on running. Most first time OCR participants grossly underestimate the difficulty of a race. Don't make that mistake. The program consists of two strength training days, two trail days, obstacle specific training, and hill work. Add this program to your TrainHeroic calendar and get yourself ready.
Team Reach OCR Elite Training
OCR Elite Training is a go-to program for those who already have a high level of fitness, but want to spice up their training and maximize their time in the gym.
Unlike most high-level OCR training, this program does not skimp on the strength training. This program spends less time on obstacle specific training, but does have two dedicated sessions for race specific training over the course of the program. The program has significant strength training volume. The typical week has 3 strength training days, a dedicated trail run, an obstacle course session or hill work, and an interval running day.
The Complete Racer
The Complete Racer is designed for the athlete who wants to dominate all aspects of the race - running, climbing, carrying, lifting, crawling, and whatever else they may face.
With an emphasis on running, intervals, and obstacle specific strength training, this program will help any athlete increase their abilities in the specific skill sets required to do well in a race.
WODs, Weights, and Trails
WODs, Weights, and Trails is a Team|REACH staple OCR program. This program is for the experienced OCR racer. It's a melting pot of training styles. The program will not only help you keep the conditioning you've achieved, but help you push it to new levels as there are several timed WODs throughout the weeks.
This is the ideal program for the complete OCR athlete who wants to strength train and maintain or create an athletic physique.
